The volunteer-based organizing committee for TEDxRegina has had four successful years delivering this independently organized TED event to our community. We have been thrilled with the success of the event over the years and are grateful to all the speakers, volunteers, sponsors and audience members who participated in TEDxRegina - thank you for your enthusiasm and support!
It’s time for a change. Jeff and Nevin, your license-holders and co-chairs for the past four years have both released their opportunity to apply for the TEDxRegina license. We have enjoyed organizing the event for four years now but are at a point where we need someone else to take the lead. Despite our best hopes and encouragement, a clear successor to apply for the TEDxRegina license hasn’t emerged. The licensing rights for the TEDxRegina brand are now available for anyone interested – an application is made through the TED application process at http://www.ted.com/participate/organize-a-local-tedx-event.
As a result of this transition, TEDxRegina will not be running in the Spring as it has in past years. A new license-holder for TEDxRegina will have the opportunity to choose when the next event will be delivered.
A TEDx license-holder has the right to deliver speaking events in their area under the TEDx brand. If you are interested, you have no obligation to deliver an event similar to past TEDxRegina events. Jeff, Nevin, and many past TEDxRegina team members are available to help a future license holder, but you also get to do it how you want. We’ll be pleased to share documentation, possible speaker leads and promotional materials that might help make your work a little easier. A small surplus in our non-profit budget will allow us to maintain the TEDxRegina website and Flickr account for the forseeable future.
